Kunzite engagement ring

An engagement ring does not necessarily have to be a precious gemstone, although that is quite a common choice.

Our client was looking for a light, powder pink gemstone that wears larger on the fingers. They chose a Kunzite, just under 7cts, which is a very good, large size for an engagement ring.

Featuring a Kunzite that has fine lustre and brilliance, this ring is definitely eye-catching. As with most engagement rings, the look that they were going for was simple but stunning. So a simple halo of diamonds would be the most complementary to this fine baby pink kunzite.

On Trend – East West Oval Rings

Oval rings do not always have to be oriented vertically. Right on trend at the moment is to wear your oval gemstone ring horizontally!

In that special, raspberry hue unique only to the Rubellite Tourmaline, its unmistakable glow is simply mesmerising.

Our client wanted an east-west oriented oval rubellite ring and she wanted to incorporate some fancy shape diamonds alongside the traditional round diamonds. And why not? Fancy shape diamonds instantly add distinct style to any piece of jewellery, definitely screams customised fine jewellery as opposed to store-bought, off-the-shelf pieces.

We are glad she likes our collaboration!

You simply cannot say no to this

No, we cannot get enough of this medium electric blue seen in this unheated blue sapphire. This shade of blue for unheated sapphires is becoming extremely difficult to source – regardless of size.

If you chance upon this, grab it while you still can. It won’t be long before availability becomes an issue, even if money is not!

Styled in ever classic diamond halo design because the blue already stands out so well on its own – what more could a lady ask for?

Peridot – the birthstone of August babies

What a spectacular, refreshing colour on this peridot. Almost vivid green, this peridot caught the eye of an endearing husband looking to gift his wife for her birthday, handcrafted fine jewellery. Though not just simply fine jewellery, but he was looking for a piece that features her birthstone.

Peridot is the birthstone of those born in August – the best colours of peridots come in vivid green with a tint of gold.

Though “classified” as a “semi-precious” gem, this does not mean the gem is any less striking or beautiful than a “precious” gem. A true sparkler that will light up a room just as much as any precious gemstone.

Again, true to our in-house quality, this peridot meets our minimum in-house requirement of colour, brilliance, lustre, clarity and cut.

Colour, colour, colour

Regardless of size, colour is the most important criteria, followed by brilliance and clarity when it comes to assessing a gem. Though smaller than the usual size of an engagement ring, this unheated sapphire meets all our in-house requirements. A deep royal blue colour – fitting of the lady who spearheaded the hunt for her unheated sapphire engagement ring. We hope she loves her ring.

Pearls for every woman

Not only do we source for fine quality gemstones, Heritage Gems also has access to natural south sea pearls. Natural south sea pearls come in a variety of colours, ranging from champagne to silver white to cream, tahitian grey and peacock-coloured pearls. Pearl jewellery make for a classic, timeless gift that a lady can wear for now and in the years to come.

As Coco Chanel once said “A woman needs ropes and ropes of pearls.” And who can forget Jackie Kennedy’s love of pearls: “Pearls are always appropriate.”

A special client of ours wanted to surprise his wife with a gift on her birthday. A necklace and earring peal set that she could wear on semi-casual occasions and when they go on dates. How romantic!

After careful selection of the pearls to ensure consistent colour, lustre and correct size, the pearls were then chosen to ensure all 7 pearls had as little blemish as possible.

There were several options provided during design discussion process. Fancy-cut marquise diamonds were also proposed to match our client’s face shape. Fancy-cut setting size diamonds are always a premium price to regular round setting size diamonds.

When a blue sapphire ring is not an engagement ring

A sapphire ring does not necessarily always have to be an engagement ring.

And so a client of ours decide to pamper herself with an unheated sapphire ring. She was looking for a nice medium vibrant blue. After viewing our selection of unheated sapphires, she set her heart on a particular piece of cushion shape, 2.16ct blue sapphire. It really is very pretty both under natural daylight and artificial shop lighting.

Not quite sure of the design she wanted, we provided her some design options that would complement both herself and something that would work for the gemstone itself. (i.e.: not all designs are suitable for every gemstone as it depends on the shape and colour of the gem).

She wanted something suitable for more regular wear but nothing too ostentatious – yet still sparkly and pretty. Somewhat like a cocktail ring or dressier, but nothing too chunky.

After discussions and measurements, she had finally decided on the design of her ring.
